In this session, early childhood educators will learn how a students’ cultural archetype impacts the ways we view their behavior in the classroom. Discover how our educational system advantages preschool students from individualistic cultures, while preschool students from communal cultures are often mislabeled as having problem behaviors. Through case studies, interactive activities, and rich discussion, learn how to reduce the overidentification of preschool students from communal cultures in early childhood and early childhood special education programs and learn strategies that educators can use to address cultural behaviors in early childhood classrooms.
