In this session, early childhood educators and special education educators will discover intersection between equitable and trauma informed practices for diverse learners. By exploring guiding principles in Venet’s book Equity Centered Trauma informed classrooms, and applying them to early childhood special education classrooms, educators will deepen their understanding of how schools can create and perpetuate trauma for young learners. Through case studies and rich discussion, participants will use 4 guiding principles to reduce and address how schools can lessen the trauma they create for students through inequity.
